Analysis of Pregnant Women's Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices Regarding Antenatal Care at Puskesmas Samata

Abstract

Antenatal care is an essential health service for monitoring maternal and fetal health and for early detection of risks and complications during pregnancy. The utilization of antenatal care is influenced not only by the availability of health facilities but also by pregnant women's knowledge, attitudes, and practices. This study aimed to analyze pregnant women's knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding antenatal care services at Samata Public Health Center. A quantitative approach with a descriptive research design was employed. The study population consisted of pregnant women receiving antenatal care at Samata Public Health Center, with the sample determined according to the study criteria. Data were collected using a questionnaire measuring knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to antenatal care and were analyzed descriptively to determine the distribution of each variable. The findings describe the levels of knowledge, attitudes, and practices among pregnant women regarding antenatal care and provide an overview of the utilization of antenatal care services in the Samata Public Health Center service area. The findings indicate that pregnant women's understanding and attitudes toward antenatal care need to be considered together with their actual practices in accessing and utilizing pregnancy care services. The study concludes that strengthening health education, communication, and health promotion for pregnant women is necessary to improve their understanding and encourage appropriate practices regarding antenatal care services.
